Fox Sports on Digital Biz Deals

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

When asked by MediaPost, “Why are the networks not negotiating deals more forcefully to restrict new distribution opportunities that could hurt their viewership?”

Fox Sports president Ed Goren said, “We’re not real great business people.”

Chris Henry changes name to Chad Johnson

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Awesome……

CINCINNATI - Following the Chad Jonson’s widely reported name change to Ocho Cinco, Cincinnati Bengal Wide Receiver Chris Henry announced he has taken steps to legally change his name to Chad Johnson.

During a press conference at Paul Brown Stadium, Henry said, “My name has been associated with so much controversy. As soon as the name Chad Johnson became available I decided this was my chance to upgrade my image and to get a clean start. The name Chad Johnson is not a stretch for me because I am a Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver just like the former Chad Johnson. I hope many fans of the former Chad Johnson will begin to accept me as their own.”

Ocho Cinco told reporters he is happy his former name has found a way to live on within the Bengals organization.

Reportedly, an inmate at the Hamilton County Jail has filed paperwork to legally change his name to Chris Henry. Steven Phillips, who is serving an 11 year sentence for several gun felonies and domestic violence convictions, feels changing his name to Chris Henry is his chance to upgrade his image and to get a clean start.

Pap on His Sore Shoulder

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

“No surgery’s needed for an Elton John,” he said. “It’s kind of nagging, sort
of like an Elton John song.”

Papelbon doesn’t seem to be too concerned about the injury, playfully joking
with reporters that it’s an “Elton John” injury, and not a “Tommy John” injury.

Rangers Beat Devils to Advance in NHL Playoffs

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

….and the almost hometown rivalry produced some gems from players and commentators alike.

During his post-game interview, Ranger Sean Avery had this to say about Devils goalie Martin Brodeur:

….and this about Devil David Clarkson…..

But it was this comment from Chico Resch when the game was over that had me rolling:

Islanders Goalie Rick DiPietro Blows Out Hip at NHL All-Star Weekend

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

We’re not hockey news writers. We’re just wondering….is this the NHL’s version of the NFL’s Janet Jackson’s nipple-gate?

Nobody’s is supposed to get hurt at the All Star Game. So how did New York Islander’s goalie Rick DiPietro hurt himself?
Catch what Ricky says as Marian Gaborik begins to pick up steam…

Feel better, Rick!!!

Oh, Randy!

Randy Moss, in FSN’s Stars on Stars:
“LaDainian Tomlinson is arguably the best player, hands down.”

And for all of you Pats fans, I hope you’ll find delicious irony in this, also from Moss — to be released later today:

“I really take my career and my job very seriously… With basketball and baseball, you can lollygag, you can have fun at the same time, then it’s time to get down to business. In football, you have four quarters to get it done, so you don’t really have time to relax in football.”

Rutgers Gals Accept Imus’ Apology

Friday, April 13th, 2007

From a statement read by coach C. Vivian Stringer:

“We, the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight basketball team, accept — accept — Mr. Imus’ apology, and we are in the process of forgiving.”

“We still find his statements to be unacceptable, and this is an experience that we will never forget.”

Snoop on Imus and the Rutgers Fiasco

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

His royal dogginess gave his opinion to Fox News’ John Gibson. Here’s what he had to say.

“It’s a completely different scenario. [Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about hos that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing (bleep), that’s trying to get a (bleep) for his money. These are two separate things.”

“First of all, we ain’t no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them (bleepers) say we in the same league as him.”

This story isn’t going anywhere for a while.

Don Imus Suspended

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Ok, so the I-man F-ed up. Definitely shouldn’t have said what he did. And now his radio show and simulcast on MSNBC have been suspended for two weeks, effective April 16th, for these stupid remarks:

But while Imus is getting dragged out in public, there’s been very little said about McGuirk’s role in this situation. Just sayin’…..

We’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the story plays out. But so far, its not looking good for Imus. During his interview with Rev. Al Sharpton on Sharpton’s radio show, Imus said, “I just can’t win with you people.”

Don, some advice. Stop talking.

Not happy with the judges

This is a clip from one of the gazillion different extreme sports events from last year. Just dug it out of the archives during a clean-up. First time using the Brightcove player, too.
