From the Hoboken Mayor’s Office….

Monday, April 16th, 2007

When asked what the city’s emergency plan was:

“We ain’t got no plan. How long have you lived in Hoboken? Welcome to Hoboken. We don’t have no pumps. We just need to hope the water goes away.”

Rutgers Gals Accept Imus’ Apology

Friday, April 13th, 2007

From a statement read by coach C. Vivian Stringer:

“We, the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight basketball team, accept — accept — Mr. Imus’ apology, and we are in the process of forgiving.”

“We still find his statements to be unacceptable, and this is an experience that we will never forget.”

Donny Deutsch on Don Imus’ Firing

“I’m going to make a prediction now that nice is going to be the new black. I don’t mean in terms of race, I mean in terms of style.”

Don is Gone

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Well, its official. Don Imus has been sacked by CBS.

Even though the I-man has lost his job, I can’t help but wonder if we’ve seen the end of this story, or if its garnered enough media attention to foster an honest discussion about race in this country without the media circus and Al Sharpton sideshow.

Doubtful, though. Everyone has returned to their regularly scheduled Sanjaya.

Snoop on Imus and the Rutgers Fiasco

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

His royal dogginess gave his opinion to Fox News’ John Gibson. Here’s what he had to say.

“It’s a completely different scenario. [Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about hos that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing (bleep), that’s trying to get a (bleep) for his money. These are two separate things.”

“First of all, we ain’t no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them (bleepers) say we in the same league as him.”

This story isn’t going anywhere for a while.

Don Imus Suspended

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Ok, so the I-man F-ed up. Definitely shouldn’t have said what he did. And now his radio show and simulcast on MSNBC have been suspended for two weeks, effective April 16th, for these stupid remarks:

But while Imus is getting dragged out in public, there’s been very little said about McGuirk’s role in this situation. Just sayin’…..

We’ll have to wait and see how the rest of the story plays out. But so far, its not looking good for Imus. During his interview with Rev. Al Sharpton on Sharpton’s radio show, Imus said, “I just can’t win with you people.”

Don, some advice. Stop talking.
